Yoga helps one woman overcome her depression
Depression affects an estimated 121 million people all over the world. Many of these individuals may benefit from incorporating a relaxing regimen such as Dahn Yoga, through which they may be able to achieve personal growth. According to the Huffington Post, this natural method of relief could decrease the high rate of antidepressant use, which has doubled in the U.S. since 1996.
Recently, expert Amy Weintraub discussed the positive impact that yoga can have on an individual's peace of mind and well-being.
"I suffered from severe depression for years myself, and it really was yoga that helped me overcome depression and get off antidepressants," she told the news source. "I was so passionate about it that I wanted to share what had changed my life with others, so I began writing about my experiences and teaching yoga in the early 90s."
She said that the more she wrote about it, the more she discovered people who had been through similar experiences. She is currently writing a book that provides further insight into the ways in which the ancient Eastern art can bring about mindfulness, tranquility and inner strength.
