Networking should start before graduation.
Procrastination can allow people to miss a lot of things such as deadlines, important events and even job opportunities.
A recent article from the Buffalo News suggested that college students begin networking while they are still in school, rather than waiting until after graduation.
The article says that students in college who are starting to think about their post-graduation careers should map out all of their contacts, from fellow students to alumni to professors. By keeping these people informed about one's desired career choice and their qualifications, the college graduate may be presented with a number of job opportunities that might have otherwise gone unnoticed.
While some may feel uncomfortable with contacting others about potential job opportunities, they should realize that just as Dahn Yoga classes teach one how to bring one's body, mind and spirit in harmony, networking can help bring peoples' career aspirations in line with reality.
By beginning to network while still in school, students will have a leg up on the competition and may even be able to secure a job before graduation.
