Performing yoga outdoors may help relieve tension
Meditating in the midst of nature can be a powerful method of stress relief. Countless yoga enthusiasts from all over the world have realized the benefits of stretching, posing and focusing on the breath while surrounded by peaceful woods, mountains or sandy beaches.
The Bradenton Herald reports that practicing yoga outdoors can be a great way to simultaneously enhance one's physical and mental well-being.
"Yoga is such a relaxing practice anyway, but outside the breeze is there, and it caresses your body and soothes your soul," said instructor Pat Richmond, quoted by the news source. "You might be lying on your back in a yoga pose, and all of a sudden, this flock of spoonbills will glide by overhead."
According to Jasmine Bowman, another instructor, engaging in the relaxing exercise outdoors can remind practitioners of the infinite. Hearing waves in the background or feeling the wind move through the trees can help them breathe a little bit deeper, calming the mind and spirit while strengthening the body.
The loose clothing, gentle postures and meditation of yoga may enable individuals to reach their full potential.
