Kids improve flexibility, strength and concentration by engaging in yoga
Dahn Yoga is an exercise that is suitable for individuals of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. Whether an enthusiast is practicing the poses and stretches for the first time or the hundredth time, the Dahn Yoga basics are easy to grasp and fun to do with the proper instruction.
Although yoga has historically been associated with adults, the regimen is beginning to gain popularity with children, according to the San Mateo County Times. The holistic mind-body program – which aims to simultaneously enhance an individual's mental, physical and emotional well-being – helps improve strength, flexibility and concentration in kids.
"It's not much different from an adult yoga class," instructor Tiffany Belzer told the news source. "We just have to make some modifications."
She added that the relaxing stretches, poses and deep breathing techniques of the program could help address common conditions such as inattention and hyperactivity disorders in children. Engaging in yoga has helped kids all over the country lengthen their attention spans, sharpen their concentration, reduce stress and prevent depression.
