Yogathon raises money for troubled young women
The breathing exercises and gentle stretching techniques of yoga can benefit enthusiasts of any age and background. By engaging in this delicate Eastern art – which enhances one's mental, emotional and physical health simultaneously – millions of people all over the world have found inner peace and reached for their potential as individuals.
The Langley Advance reports that a yogathon was recently held at the Langley Fine Arts School in Canada. The event centered around a theme called "The Power of One," which celebrated a famous quote from Gandhi encouraging people to be the change that they wished to see in the world.
Enthusiasts gathered to pose, stretch and breathe in a harmonious environment. The event sought to raise money to help troubled young women who faced challenges such as low self-esteem and substance abuse.
"It starts with each individual making a chance," said school counselor and yoga instructor Janine Orlando, quoted by the news source.
The yogathon brought together more than two dozen participants, who joined together in the relaxing art in the school gymnasium.
