Chris Evans resolves to take up yoga’s self-healing techniques

When it comes to superhero films, actor Chris Evans practically has the market cornered with both the Fantastic Four and Captain America/Avengers franchises under his belt. Between setting the screen on fire as the Human Torch and defending World War II-era America, it's no wonder that Evans has resolved to take up the self-healing techniques of yoga for 2012.

"I always say I should do more yoga. Or do yoga – more would mean I do some. I've done none," Evans said in an interview with Details Magazine. "But I always want to do yoga because I'm getting old. Nerves are getting pinched every other day, and I really just gotta get more limber."

As an actor, Evans has to be cognizant of his physical appearance, and yoga certainly wouldn't hurt him.

In the meantime, Evans also lifts weights and increases his protein intake, according to the news source.

The action star is far from being the only man interested in practicing yoga. According to a survey conducted by the Yoga Journal, nearly 28 percent of America's 15.8 million enthusiasts are men. Those who are interested in checking out a couple of Hawaii yoga classes certainly would be in good company. After all, how could you top Captain America?

Working out with DVDs can be a good move for yoga beginners

Do you dread spending hours each week in a gym or studio full of other sweaty people? Would you rather exercise in the peace, solitude and privacy of your own home? Millions of Americans prefer to engage in physical activity in a comfortable, familiar surrounding, which is why Dahn Yoga DVDs may be a good choice for enthusiasts who want to participate in the holistic mind-body system at their own convenience.

A visual aid can be particularly helpful to those who are new to the regimen. Once the physician has given his or her okay, enthusiasts can then pop in a DVD whenever they wish and learn how to perform the basic moves of yoga.

Performing the deep breathing techniques and soothing stretching methods may be done most efficiently in loose-fitting, comfortable clothing on a yoga mat. With time, individuals who practice these calming exercises can enhance their mental, emotional and physical well-being, in addition to building strength and flexibility.
